We are deeply involved in supporting our clients at both ends of the loading dock - our reuse buyers depend upon us as much as our municipal and commercial clients.

This modest operation in Ghana Africa so impressed us during our 3 visits from 2015-2017 that Good Point Recycling of Massachusetts and Vermont sponsored undergraduates from Middlebury College and U of Florida to a summer apprenticeship to explain the difference between "informal" recycling and "primitive" recycling. Not the same thing!!!

Hard Drive Manual Destruction is as Good as our Shredding at Good Point Recycling of Massachusetts

Reassembling is not what data thieves do. All data theft today is from devices in CURRENT USE, e.g. by phishing emails, bribes, spying, and theft of a device without encryption or dual device unlock.

When people specifically ask for shredding and not manual disassembly, we can do that. But we don't peddle in scaring people into paying more for a machine to make the independent parts less recyclable. Our separation of discs, magnets, boards, aluminum husks, etc. is better environmentally. But we can shred instead, if someone insists.

RECYCLING IS NOT A LIE!

https://retroworks.blogspot.com/2025/02/recycling-is-not-lie-alexander-clapp.html

Our response to the reckless accusations of our recycling partners by New York Times guest op-ed writer Alexander Clapp.

Please do your math, dude. A city of 5M which has had electricity for 70 years (Accra, Ghana), dozens of TV stations, etc. doesn't produce banana peels and coconut shells at the city dump. You found a place collecting 25 TVs per day from a city of 5M, and think it's proof that the TVs just arrived from recyclers in the USA?

Racial profiling doesn't look good in green.

For the fifth year in a row, Good Point Recycling of Massachusetts and Good Point Recycling were named to the prestigious European "Recycling International" magazine's TOP 100 RECYCLERS worldwide. And we got that nod by making the list MUCH HARDER to get onto because it now recognizes recyclers in emerging markets as TOP RECYCLERS (Number one this year is based in India). Robin Ingenthron

Each year Recycling International publishes a Top 100 of most inspiring and innovative people in global recycling. The list spotlights industry veterans

Very informative article on the recycling of the 80% of electronics that don't have a reuse or parts aftermarket. This is what happens, ultimately, to most of the devices at Good Point Recycling of Massachusetts and Vermont.

Of course, this is the morgue. Our reuse partners are in the recovery room, and the lifecycle of 20% reuse is even more important for consumers trying to lightly impact the environment.

Good article, if not groundbreaking (so to speak). I've been in the business 25+ years, have been in these primary and secondary smelters, met the engineers. They make "sustainability" look good. One key in the industry not mentioned in the article is that over-investing in capacity to p...
