A year ago today I had back surgery.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had lived well over 18 months in intense chronic pain, to the point where I ended up working laying flat on my stomach each day, on the floor of my living room, like that was normal. Occasionally I'd literally pass out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 days after my surgery, I fell and tore a ligament in my ankle. THE LEVEL OF PAIN WAS LIKE NOTHING I HAD EVER IMAGINED WAS POSSIBLE.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I say this in such a light tone, because a year later my life is a complete 180.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My Dr. told me not to consider the surgery a success until at least a year. While recovery was hard and long and PT for both my back and ankle was brutally humbling, I will say I AM A SUCCESS STORY!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started working out again a few months ago, when the pandemic halted everything. I walked. I walked some more, and then one magical day, I was on the treadmill and I ran. 2 of the 4 miles clocked were of me RUNNING.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had thought about all I wanted to say regarding my journey, giving you nuggets of wisdom along the way, but the bottom line is this:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hardship is temporary. When you feel like giving up, just give it just one more day. One more week. There is always light at the end of the tunnel and the story of our lives are built with purpose. I never thought I'd see an end to my pain. After the surgery, I never thought I'd recover. But here I am, 365 days later and I am strong. I am pain free and I couldn't be happier.

I can absolutely do hard things.

Today's the day! Tickets for the Society For Creative Founders At-Home Conference Experience opens at 10am CST! I have been waiting SO long to get to share my excitement about this!⁣

With 7 speakers and 14 Sessions, this conference will be themed around Mindfulness & Marketing, and with the way 2020 has treated us so far, I’m pretty sure it’s exactly what we need! I know it’s what I need!

Not only will I be speaking on Beating Business Burnout (yes, I just said that. I will be teaching a session on something I took YEARS and a back surgery to overcome!), I’ll also be leading a creative watercolor breakout session, with all supplies included!

I have a challenge for you....

As I work to refine a few things regarding my business model, where I am going, what I am doing and what I offer, I look back on ALL of the insanely amazing projects I've been involved in and realize I'm like the handyman of the art and wedding industry. The hodge podge and variety of skills with multi passion levels.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I feel my branding has always been in line. I almost always book my ideal client. but at least 1 email inquiry a week, I'm like "Huh, where on earth did that request come from and why do they think I'm the girl for the job?!"
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, let's not mention how people in my life and outside of the industry have absolutely no clue what it is I do for a living. Ahem, church friends!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So my challenge is to answer these questions:
- What sums up Chloe (as far as career goes)?
- What does English Tea Paperie do/offer?

This is me. Me in the middle of one of the scariest moments as an entrepreneur - teaching a watercolor painting class to a group of CREATIVES. One beautiful lady in the back, an actual living PAID ARTIST as her full time job. 2 other ladies sell watercolor as part of their business model.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I kid you not.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you know what is beautiful about this photo? It shows me pushing through fear, pushing past the doubts I told myself for an hour before the class and I have an actual caught in the moment smile on my face.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's me USING the gifts God gave me, regardless of what the world convinces me I'm not good enough to use.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've always believed because I am self taught, that I had nothing to offer. I believed that because I'm 40lbs overweight, that people wouldn't want to learn from "the fat girl". But you know what. I am me. Only me can be me. And if I teach you to paint an oyster using "alien head" "swoops" and "avocado" as key teaching words, at least I'll make it fun.

Move fast fear. Move past doubt and see what you are actually capable of, because I can promise you, it's A LOT.
