Project Spotlight: Blue River Water District – Horizontal Directional Drilling – Blue River, OR.

Our HDD team recently completed a challenging installation that was the key piece for the Blue River Water system.

Scope of Work:

(1) River bore 10" HDPE DR11 for 540'. (Completed)
(5) Mckenzie Hwy Bores 10” HDPE DR11 ranging from 110’ to 180’. (In progress)
(1) Elk creek crossing 1-2” HDPE DR11 450’. (In progress)

Soil Conditions:
Glacial till and cobbles with massive boulders and solid rock.

Equipment Utilized:
Ditch Witch 100AT.
Ditch Witch 30AT.
Subsite Marksman Plus.

Despite difficult conditions, the crew completed the bore to spec—meeting alignment and depth requirements while protecting the surrounding environment. HDD was the only method for this project due to the incline of the necessary crossing under the blue river, elk creek, and McKensie hwy. The local Blue River Water District is undertaking a major upgrade and replacement of its municipal water system. This includes replacing approximately 31,000 feet (about 6miles) of old water lines, hydrants, and service connections across the town to modern materials to improve reliability and fire protection.
