📱 𝗶𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟭 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 ✨

This iPhone 11 came into the studio with a shattered screen, ink bleeding through the display and lines running down the side. Plenty of people would have tossed it and bought a new phone. Not this customer. 🙌

They decided their phone still had plenty of life left, and they were right. A fresh screen later, it’s crisp, bright and back in their pocket for years to come. 🔧➡️💪

Every phone that gets repaired instead of replaced is one less phone in a landfill. 🌍♻️ Mad respect for keeping this one going. 🫡

A customer brought this PS5 into the studio with no picture. Turns out her son had tried to straighten the HDMI port with a butter knife. 🧈🔪 Points for creativity, but those pins did not survive.

Swipe for the damage: bent pins and a cracked shell. Out came the old port, in went a fresh one, and he was back to gaming.

HDMI ports are now one of my favorite repairs to do, and I’m so glad I learned them last year. They’re tiny and precise, and so satisfying to bring back. Plus every fixed console is one less headed to the landfill.

PS5 or Xbox showing no signal? Put the butter knife down and bring it by. 😄

📱 𝗘-𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: About 5.3 billion phones dropped out of use in a single year. That was the WEEE Forum's estimate for 2022. Stacked flat, that pile would rise about 50,000 km, 120 times higher than the International Space Station. 🚀

Experts expected most of them to land in drawers, closets, and garages, or in the trash headed for landfill, with gold, copper, silver, and palladium still inside.

The greenest phone is usually the one you already own. A new screen or battery can keep it in your pocket and out of that pile. Repairs are by appointment in the Twin Cities, and mail-in service is available.

♻️ 𝗘-𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: In 2022 the world made 62 million tonnes of e-waste. Only 22.3% was documented as properly collected and recycled. Generation is rising five times faster than documented recycling, and we are on track toward 82 million tonnes by 2030.

Every phone, tablet, laptop, or console that gets repaired instead of replaced stays in use longer and out of that pile. That is the work Instakyle does in the Twin Cities.

🔋 Tech news: Apple just raised the out-of-warranty battery fee for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max to $129 in the US. The 16 Pro and 17 Pro have been $119, so that's a $10 bump. MacRumors notes the new Pro models have bigger batteries.

Got AppleCare+? Apple covers a battery under 80% health at no extra charge. You can check under Settings > Battery > Battery Health.
