What’s a crappy way to end 2025? What if I told you Minnesota DNR gave the greenlight to a Chilean mining conglomerate’s plan to drill at the edge of the Boundary Waters?

Well … that’s what happened.

While the Trump administration works to gut federal protections, the Walz administration had a chance to take a stand. They could have denied this permit. We even sent them the legal roadmap.

They didn’t use it.

Instead, they propped open the door to a toxic industry.

This isn't just about one drilling permit. It's about who has the courage to stand up when it matters.

This isn’t great news to end the year on, but we’re hopeful. The majority of Minnesotans oppose copper-sulfide mining near the Boundary Waters. And 2026 is our chance to turn the popular will into political power.
