Last weekend I was so honored to get to be a part of an event hosted by Becky Ferguson, owner of Thedripmobile. She is a tremendous host, fabulous barista, and spectacular friend. She was using this event to support and promote some local ladies and their businesses, as well as enjoy community and camaraderie as we were able to fellowship with many different ladies.

Thank you, Becky, for promoting our small businesses and supporting us with love!

Caution sappy and long post ahead...
My sister-in-law sent me a picture that her daughter, my niece, painted on Friday (the top left picture). What she didn't know was that I had painted a similar picture while her girls were with me the previous day.

I was elated! I later sent my sister-in-law a few of the following pictures. These are various times that my niece had imitated a drawing or painting that either I had done or my sister had done.

The first time I ever saw her do this was when she was about four. I was painting a picture of a little girl and she began to copy me. She covered it until she was finished, but I noticed how intensely she would watch what I was doing.

This little girl is so extremely talented, and this isn't just the partial aunt speaking. She has a gift that I do believe will be used for the glory of God one day. But how humbling, how exciting, and how challenging is it that in this current time in her life she is imitating the things she sees those she loves doing.

Although she is imitating my artwork, she is watching me closely, she is noting what I do... that is a challenge to my heart.

Remember that these little ones we are around, even if they aren't your own children, are watching us. They are imitating us. In a world of "influencers" we have the opportunity to influence. We have a chance to be an example to them and help shape their future and lead them to Christ.

I hope that as the years pass it is not just artwork in my life that makes an impression on these young people I am so honored to be around, but it is Christ in me that shines so brightly that they too desire the deep relationship with our Loving Savior.

We as humans fail, it is true, but God in his glorious goodness redeems our lives so that we can be a light to others. Let's be an example for Him. I pray that this challenges all of us, because the careful watchfulness of my niece impacted me greatly. I want this to be a challenge that I take seriously and live a life that glorifies Jesus.
