A lot of these lessons came from getting divorced, but honestly I think they’re just life lessons I happened to learn the really fu***ng hard way 😂 Like you’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to want more and still be grateful for what you have. You’re allowed to admit something you chose isn’t working anymore without needing to make it or someone else the villain. And maybe the biggest one for me: you do not always get the luxury of being 100% sure before you make a big decision. I wasted so much time thinking if I just thought about something long enough I’d eventually arrive at this magical place where I had zero doubt and knew exactly what to do. Turns out sometimes you just have to trust yourself enough to move and let the answer meet you there. My life looks almost nothing like I thought it would at 37 and thank the good Lord for that ✌🏽❤️‍🔥

YOU’RE HIDING! I know there’s a hidden side of you — she is sharper than the woman you post. she is funnier. she is right about more things than anyone has given her credit for. she has been articulating your entire life back to you for years and you keep her behind closed doors.
Here’s what happens —you open IG, and a different woman pushes you aside. She takes over (and she is oh so diplomatic!) softer. squarer. apologizing in advance. running every sentence through a filter that asks is this okay. is this too much. is this allowed. by the time it gets to the feed it is unrecognizable. Probably even adding (!) or (lol) to the end of anything that could ruffle a feather.

and then you wonder why you’re not growing. why women with half your skill, passion, experience, and life are out-earning you. why the work is not working.
it is not the dam algorithm. it is not the niche. it is not the camera angle.

it is that the only woman they would ever actually pay for is the one you keep refusing to publish.

the telling is how she gets out. it is the framework that turns the real one into the income, the audience, the brand. a decade of living, finally on the page.

that the one thing every single human being is genuinely good at — like universally, no exceptions — is lying to themselves.
and i’ve been thinking about it ever since because it’s so true it’s uncomfortable. it’s not even the big lies. it’s the ones that sound completely reasonable. the ones that sound like patience. like being the bigger person. like not blowing up your life over something that might still get better.

that’s the sneaky part. it never feels like lying. it feels like surviving.

last year i went through an entire season of my life feeling like there was glass between me and everything. not sad in a way i could explain. just gone. present for all of it and somehow not there at all.
the hardest part wasn’t the emptiness. it was looking around at people who loved me and still feeling completely unreachable. like i was too far down to be found and too exhausted to wave anyone
