I'm pleased to announce that my brand design was chosen for the 2023 Palm Springs International Film Festival. As well as the event poster, this will be seen on all the promotion and publicity, merchandise, and event materials.

This is the 34th annual Festival, and the first time a Palm Springs designer has been chosen for the main graphic. My design uses angled planes to play on the idea of screens, with icons for film, sun, and of course palm trees. The interaction, overlap, different directions, and hard angles reflects the diversity of entries and the connections that a film festival creates.

PSIFF is growing in stature, as it is the first film festival of the year and a major draw for awards season. It runs January 5-16, 2023. https://www.psfilmfest.org/

In the new book "Glamour Road," authors Tom Dolle and Jeff Stork look at how the auto industry found new ways to appeal to both women in the 1950s and young people in the 1960s by transforming cars into far more than just transportation. Barry Petersen has the story.

What happens when there's no down time? Your website doesn't get updated in... years! I finally bit the bullet and created a completely new site using wix.com (thanks Nita Gale for the tip!). You'll see a range of projects and a ton of new work (it works on mobile, but better on a desktop/laptop). http://www.dolledesign.com

Tom Dolle Design creates modern graphic design and branding that grabs attention, communicates a message, connects a viewer to a brand or idea, and leaves a lasting impression.

I'm excited to announce the new branding program for DAP Health, formerly Desert AIDS Project. It was a pleasure working with such a dedicated and insightful marketing team, led by Steven Henke, who stated: "The name DAP Health more clearly conveys our commitment to the greater good and the diversity of over 8,000 people calling DAP Health their healthcare home. It also retains and honors our founding, with the letters DAP."

The directive for the logo was to make it colorful, not corporate, highly adaptable, represent inclusiveness, diversity, caring, and holistic health. Oh, and also try to keep people from calling it "dap". Tall order!

I immediately focused on the "dap" letters to form the main visual. In lower case they represent humility. The letters all have the same core, but go in different directions—that seemed like diversity to me. The overlapping transparencies make it colorful, and also represent inclusiveness and a holistic linking of services. By placing DAP Health next to the main visual, the full name is clear.

The logo is meant to be used playfully, on white or black, as a strong visual identity for DAP Health (there's also a one color version for active backgrounds). As the roll-out begins, it will be exciting to see how the logo helps the community understand and embrace the important mission of DAP Health.

Sneak peek at a new signage program in the final stages of installation at the new Community Access affordable housing complex in the Bronx, by Think Architects of Brooklyn (Jack Esterson, principal). Unusually well-designed for affordable housing, this 10-story, 215-unit project is currently the largest new affordable housing project in New York and an architectural triumph. I used the signage as an opportunity to add a graphic punch to the hallways, with some super graphic walls yet to come if the budget allows. Look, color in NYC! I had the pleasure of working with Jack Esterson previously on the NYC LGBT Center and their massive donor recognition signage & wayfinding program.
