This morning, I received a suspicious message in my iMessage app, purporting to be from the security team at my credit union. The message requested that I click on a link to address a supposedly large transaction on my account. I contacted the credit union directly using a verified phone number and they confirmed that the message was indeed spam. It is essential to exercise caution in such situations, as scammers often attempt to create a sense of urgency. Always verify the authenticity of such messages through a trusted contact method, rather than relying on the information provided in the suspicious message. Notably, the credit union emphasized that they would never initiate contact in this manner.

We all have the right to have private conversations. They’re vital for free and informed self-government. When we want to have private conversations online, encryption makes it possible. Yet Congress is debating, for a third time, the EARN IT Act (S. 1207)—a bill that would threaten encryption, ...

Used OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 to write two powershell scripts this morning. It was an experiment so I had it write two different scripts that I had recently written 100% manually. Pretty darn close and the deviations mostly meant I had to be a little more explicit on my input description. I was impressed though. A few seconds to get 90% of the
Code written was huge!!!!
Going to try it on my next real project for sure.

"Decided to go out for a date night. After being seated, we waited 35 minutes before our order was taken. There was a mix-up with our table number and our server didn't realize we were his table. We weren't in a rush so we just waited patiently. Our server was super nice. He apologized and gave us a free appetizer. There was a mistake with my order and he gave us $5 off. No big deal. The whole time he seemed a bit flustered and we could definitely tell he was afraid that we were upset, even though we were smiling and trying to be friendly. We left a 50% tip (not a big deal). The manager stopped Ray on the way out to tell him that it's not often that someone who gets bad service leaves a generous tip.

The thing is, we didn't get bad service. Mistakes were made, and he did his best to fix it. Why do we expect perfection out of people?? Those expectations just set you up for disappointment and frustration. It makes me sad that a small mistake made him wary of our reaction. No one is perfect. Be patient. Be loving. Have grace." - Renee Moore

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words:

Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.

I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letterbox at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page were the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away.

Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank you."
