ANIMATION SAMPLE: 🧪 Why can't we live without oxygen? At 20.95% of dry air, free-floating Oxygen (O2) is essential for metabolism. Its chemical nature includes six valence electrons as a strong oxidizer. Absorbed in the lungs, (O2) it travels through the alveolar membrane and capillary endothelium where it is bound to hemoglobin molecules. In this way, the (O2) is distributed to the cells and tissues of the body via the circulatory system. Oxygen intake as respiration is a key way cells create chemical energy to fuel cellular activity enabling metabolism and energy for all of our cellular needs. It's how your eyes 👁️ are seeing this and your brain 🧠 is making sense of it all!
By volume, dry air contains 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide and smaller amounts of various other gases as well as varying amounts of water v***r.
