2024 was a very colorful year in my feed! For at least half of 2024 I was intensely learning different ways of creating repeat patterns in several programs I knew well and didn’t know at all. What a journey it has been.

Then I lost steam and focused on other creative pursuits. Not sure where this is going, but the journey has been wonderful. I have to be happy with that.

2025 here I come.

Funny story. This rose motif was one of several rose options for a ketubah design. This rose, which I liked better than the other options, was not chosen, so it just sat in a pile of files in a folder on my iPad.

Over the last several months, I have been methodically going through my files to organize them and back them up so that I actually have a handle on the thousands of pieces of art I have created over three decades.

Like opening boxes of old photos, I have often found myself stuck in nostalgia, rather than sticking to the job I have set for myself! Or instead of continuing to organize, I actually decide to turn something into something else - which is what happened here!

So this little rose has a new life - another chance to shine.

Fun to draw simple flower shapes with chalk pastels on black surfaces! The contrast is always rewarding. I love this design on sheeting and duvet covers. It feels like it would be a very versatile fabric choice for summer dresses or a bold blazer. Available now in my Spoonflower shop!

I bought the prettiest package of cherry tomatoes on the vine at Trader Joe’s the other day to make a tomato and white bean salad. I could not get the image of the individual perfect tomatoes out of my mind - so I sat down and drew this!

I right away imagined this design on a reusable grocery bag! And lots of other things. Swipe for a few products!

Digging in to an vibe with these new - I have lots of ideas to expand this collection. Storytelling through surface design is a new realm for me, but I am pursuing it with gusto.

This new collection, is being developed with baby clothes, blankets and wallpapers as my dream end products.

I hope this fun mid century kitchen pattern gets you in the mood to cook something retro. Maybe a recipe from your mom’s recipe card box of family favorites?

Do you have one of those? I do. And each time I make one of my mom’s recipes it brings be back to my childhood. Following her handwritten instructions and notes, makes the end result especially delicious.

What’s your favorite family recipe?

I did some quick research on strawberries, and did you know they are not just delicious and fun to draw?

Strawberries Have Ancient Roots: they have been enjoyed since Roman times in a multitude of ways. They were used for everything from medicinal purposes to beauty treatments.

Ancient Romans believed strawberries could alleviate symptoms of inflammation, fever, and kidney stones. They also used strawberry juice for skin care, to reduce the appearance of freckles and age spots.

A true symbol of summer, strawberries are on my mind as the temperatures finally are warming up.

And I am adding them to my portfolio of seasonal patterns!
