Firefox just released a series of new logos, each tailored to one of their new security and privacy services. The initial feedback was actually very negative. Many people thought Firefox had "redesigned" the famous "Fox" that was originally created when the browser officially launched back in 2002.

Yes, there were a few edits made to the fox but the real news comes with their new line of privacy and security services all branded under the Firefox umbrella.

The logo is a great example of what a logo should be. Simple, clean, memorable and future proof. It keeps to its roots and gives plenty of options (design-wise) for any new service offerings that are created The future.

Well done.

The New York Jets made some significant changes to their logo for this upcoming season. Their previews logo was designed in 1998, but traces back to 1964. Undeniably the new logo is a huge improvement from the old, but isn't a ...touchdown.

From a design standpoint the logo does follow MOST of the logo design principals. The spacing between the football icon and typography is very tight which is logo 101.

The make or break point to this logo is the little football icon (that was used in the previous logo as well). A very unnecessary design element altogether; The logo itself is a football, why would you want to place a football inside of a football?

IKEA has been walking around with the same logo since the 1960’s. This year they decided to make some discreet but necessary enhancements to their design. Focusing on the typography and color, IKEA has “future proofed” their logo but maintain the unique characteristics of the original design.

The typography refinements fixed issues with the font seeming like it was being stretched by reducing the lettering by 15% and addressing spacing issues between the “E” and “A”.

Lastly, a fix in the color allows the logo to be reproduced more consistently across various mediums both print and digital.

After 24 years Formula 1 has unveiled their new logo. The logo aesthetically is very well designed, but the general audience is not to pleased. A lot of backlash is coming their way, partly because the old logo was actually well designed!

Sure, it could have used a nice update; fixing some spacing and scaling issues, but they decided to revamp the entire emotional state of the logo.

One cool aspect of this design is the hidden "1" that you see when you rotate it 90 degrees. Overall the logo is Well designed, well executed but misses what proper brand strategy would have fixed...understanding what people really want.

Mastercard is removing its name from its logo in most contexts, leaving the interlocking red and yellow circles to represent the brand on cards, in stores, at events and in advertising.
