I don’t disagree but, the real question is can any part of it be done ethically? We started Join the Hive because we believe in putting your money where your mouth is and, because yes - it can be ethical and benefit more than a handful of billionaires.
Those billionaires, conversely, can still make a lot of money. More money than almost anyone gets to ever see in their lives. So can investors.
Investors and shareholders are vital but, that is not mutually exclusive with recognizing that people, workers, and stakeholders also matter. It’s not one or the other but the one tenth of one percent of people who control so much of the world’s wealth certainly don’t mind you thinking it is. And that’s a problem. The fact that nearly half of all the wealth in existence belongs to a group of people that could comfortably fit in an off-Broadway theater.
I have always believed that with great privilege comes great responsibility and, the price of that privilege is to help those less privileged and speak up on behalf of those whose voice isn’t being heard. These principles are core beliefs for our company and our product. We believe that by creating value that circulates within neighborhoods and towns, rather then being extracted from them, we can empower entrenpenuers, freelancers, and business owners while delivering consumers a new kind of experience. One free of ads, bots, suspect reviews, and purchased likes.
AI has the potential to fulfill the promise of technology to deliver better lives for everyone and a better planet for us all. Tech does not need to be creepy or dystopian or only benefit a small part of society.
