Built for one of the toughest operating environments on Earth, this custom challenge coin honors the dedicated members of the USCGC Polar Star Damage Control Shop who keep America’s only heavy polar icebreaker mission-ready in the harshest conditions imaginable.

The front showcases the legendary USCGC Polar Star cutting through icy waters, accompanied by a determined Damage Control penguin mascot geared up and ready for action. The reverse highlights the core mission of Damage Control personnel with crossed firefighting tools, engineering symbolism, and the timeless maritime motto:
