I don’t only check a website on a computer and one phone.

I gradually narrow the screen and watch what happens in between.

That’s where a menu can begin to crowd, a heading may wrap awkwardly, or a button can slip out of place—even when the site looked fine at the two screen sizes you checked first.

Before launch, I test those in-between sizes too.

Have you ever turned your phone sideways or resized a window and watched a website suddenly get weird?

Have you ever opened a website on your phone and thought, “I’ll deal with this when I’m back on a computer”?

A site can look fine on a laptop and still have menus that overlap, text that runs off the screen, or buttons that are difficult to tap on mobile.

A smaller screen needs more than a smaller version of the desktop layout. The page has to rearrange so it still makes sense.

What mobile website problem makes you give up first?

That tiny icon in your browser tab is called a favicon.

A wide logo or detailed wordmark may look great on a website, but turn into a blur when it’s squeezed into such a small square. That’s why many brands use a simpler symbol instead.

Google can also show that favicon in Search results. When one isn’t properly set, you may just see a generic globe or default icon instead.

Same brand. Different job.

Have you noticed that some websites show a little globe, while others use a smaller version of their brand mark?

Before I call a website finished, I submit every contact form myself.

I check that the button works, the message reaches the right inbox, and the visitor gets a clear confirmation that it was sent.

Because a form can look completely finished and still send nowhere.

Have you ever submitted one and wondered whether anyone saw it?

A website being live doesn't automatically mean it shows up on Google.

Google still has to discover the site, read its pages, and figure out which searches it might answer — and for a new site or business, that takes time.

So if a site's live but not showing up yet, it usually doesn't mean something's broken.

The first step is finding out what Google can currently see.

Sometimes that "button" you keep trying to click really does look clickable—but it was never connected to anything.

It's a small oversight, but it can leave people wondering whether the site is broken or whether they're doing something wrong.

When something looks interactive, visitors naturally expect it to respond.

What's one tiny website frustration that drives you crazy?

06/23/2026

Google's research found that 53% of mobile visitors will leave a page if it takes longer than three seconds to load.

Three seconds. That's the window. Half your potential customers decide before your site has even finished appearing.

Speed isn't a techie thing — it's whether someone ever sees your business at all.

This one means a lot. 🧡

Pro Line Finish Carpentry Inc. is a West Michigan finish carpentry shop doing genuinely beautiful work — kitchens, built-ins, trim, stairs. I built their website, and Larry left this wonderful review.

Getting to build something that does the work justice — that's the whole reason I do this.

A site should feel instant on a phone. So when a homepage loads even a beat slower than it should, it bugs me until it's fixed.

Nobody will ever consciously notice — they'll just feel the page snap right in.

Most of good web design is invisible like that.

Some of the best businesses I've come across have websites that no longer do them justice. That's why I built Soltheia.

The family shop that's been serving the community for decades. The tradesperson whose craftsmanship speaks for itself. The local business people recommend without hesitation.

Their websites deserve the same level of care they bring to their work.

So I build custom websites that load fast, work beautifully on a phone, and belong entirely to the people they're built for. Honest, upfront pricing — and a site that's truly yours.

I'm proud to call Muskegon home, and I'm grateful to get to do this work for the businesses that make it what it is.
