🚨 Critical alert for anyone with a business website 🚨

A newly disclosed flaw called PHP2Shell affects PHP, the engine behind WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, Drupal and about 70% of websites. Attackers can take over a server or steal passwords and API keys without logging in. Attacks are already being attempted.

✅ What to do today:
1️) Check your PHP version (WordPress: Tools → Site Health → Info → Server)
2) Ask your host to confirm PHP 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27 or 8.5.12 or newer
3) On PHP 8.1 or older? Those versions get no fix, so plan an upgrade now
4) Back up first, then update WordPress, themes and plugins
5) Once you’re patched, change your admin and API passwords

What you paste into AI doesn't stay in the chat. 🔐

AI chatbots are great for brainstorming. But on many consumer plans, your conversations can be stored, read by human reviewers, and used to train future models, unless you change the settings.

✅ Safe to paste: public info, general how-to questions, your own writing with names removed, made-up sample data
🚫 Never paste: client names, contracts, passwords or API keys, medical details, unreleased financials

Rule of thumb: if the tool is free and consumer-grade, assume your prompt is not private. For work, use AI tools your company has approved, with business data protections in place.

"Free Wi-Fi" is not a security strategy. 📶

This isn't hypothetical. Microsoft has warned that a Russia-linked hacking group has been taking over guest Wi-Fi at hotels and conference centers. Travelers who signed in were sent to fake Microsoft login pages and fake "update" pop-ups that steal passwords and install malware. The campaign started in May and picked back up at the end of September.

The network was the hotel's real one. A familiar network name doesn't mean a safe network.

Here's what to watch for:
🔁 Lookalike networks: Anyone can name a network "Hotel_Guest_WiFi."
📱 Automatic joining: Your phone reconnects to network names it remembers, often without asking.
💳 Sensitive tasks: Banking, invoices, payroll, and client portals don't belong on a network you don't control.

The fix: for anything involving money or logins, switch to your phone's hotspot. Microsoft gives the same advice. Turn off auto-join for public networks, and never install an "update" that a Wi-Fi sign-in page offers you.

A QR code is just a digital shortcut, but scammers love using shortcuts to route you somewhere dangerous.

"Quishing" (QR phishing) happens when bad actors paste malicious stickers over legitimate codes or fabricate urgent notices. Common targets include:

- 🅿Parking meters & pay stations: Fake payment portals set up to harvest credit card data.
- 🍽Restaurant table tents: Overlaid stickers sending you to credential-stealing or malware-laden sites instead of the menu.
- 📦"Missed delivery" slips: Bogus postal notices prompting you to pay a "redelivery fee."
- 💸Donation drives & street flyers: Intercepting charitable giving by redirecting payments into private accounts.

Two habits to keep your accounts safe:

1. Preview the URL. Before tapping to open a link, check the domain name for misspellings, hyphen tricks, or strange top-level domains (.xyz, .top).
2. Use official channels to pay. If you need to pay for parking, track a parcel, or donate, navigate directly through verified vendor apps or manually type their known website into your browser.

When in doubt, don't scan. Go direct.

The approval request you didn't start.

Your phone buzzes: "Approve sign-in?" You're not logging in to anything.

That notification isn't a glitch. It's the attack.

What just happened
A sign-in prompt only shows up after someone enters your correct password. If it wasn't you, an attacker already has it. Now they're sending prompts, sometimes dozens in a row, hoping you tap Approve by accident or just to make it stop. That's MFA fatigue, also called push-bombing.

What to do in the next 5 minutes
Deny it. Every time. Never approve a sign-in you didn't start, even if someone calls claiming to be IT.
Change that password from a device you trust, not from a link in a text or email.
Tell your IT or security team so they can check for other sign-in attempts.

Make it harder next time
Where the service allows it, switch from a plain push to number-matching or a hardware security key. Both require something the attacker doesn't have.

Watch out for this scam!

🚩 EMAIL SCAM WARNING 🚩

Have you ever received an email saying your subscription payment failed or your account has been placed on hold?

Before clicking anything or entering payment information, look for these red flags:

🚩 Check the sender’s actual email address. An address like [email protected] is not a legitimate Netflix email address.
🚩 There is an unexpected attachment.
🚩 The message claims your account is on hold or will be suspended.
🚩 There is a link asking you to update or verify your payment information.

If you receive an email like this, do not use the links or attachments in the message. Instead, go directly to the company’s official website or app and log in to your account to verify whether there is actually a problem.

Scammers count on people reacting quickly. Slow down, check the details, and don’t give them your information.
