There are no rules to making art.

Sure, there are fundamentals worth knowing, and traditional paths if that's your thing. But there's no one right way to do create art.

Art is about expressing yourself. Staying open. Trying new things. and above all, being playful.

And isn’t that the best part?

Friendly reminder that you also don't have to share every single thing that you do.

Little steps each day that are important to remind ourselves of ~ cheers!

I thought coming back to art after 20 years would be the most physically challenging task. Retraining my hand, my eye, the muscle memory of it all.

Turns out that the psychological noise has been a far greater obstacle. The mental distractions that creep in and try to convince me I'm behind, or rusty, or too late. It can be frustrating.

But, what I’ve been rediscovering through it all is that incredible feeling you tap into when you’re creating art — where time just stands still.

It sounds silly, but I'd forgotten what that felt like.

I know the answers I’m looking for will come if I just keep showing up.

So, here’s a piece I’m working on in honor of Jackie, Big Bear’s beloved bald eagle who just passed.

The moment presented itself… and I said yes 🐎💨

No deliberation. No weighing pros and cons. Just an impromptu invitation and an immediate choice to step into it.

My first time riding a horse! And over these last several weeks what continues to strike me is the recognition of who I’m becoming now. This version of me who understands that discomfort isn’t a warning sign — it’s just a naturally felt resistance when you’re breaking out of old routines and stepping into a new timeline.

And there’s been so much of that lately! 🙏🥹

I’m learning to honor this new version of myself by continuing to say yes to life. Especially when something feels unfamiliar. Because that discomfort isn’t rejection — it’s initiation. It’s the friction of transformation. It’s proof that we’re no longer living the same loop 💫

The simplest of actions — like offering to help on a neighbor’s farm — can become doorways to surreal, unscripted moments like this one. Moments that enforce what we already know — that we’re not meant to spend life behind desks, in cubicles, behind glass, watching the world from a distance and separated from nature.

We’re meant to be in it. Moving with it. Letting it move through us.

This chapter is about that: choosing action over observation. Honoring the new version by refusing to return to the old one. Trusting that every time we push through, we arrive more fully into the life we’re building.

I never knew there was an actual mushroom season 🍄✨🌀

All the more reason to fall in love with the PNW — they're literally everywhere!

All shapes, colors and sizes — short lived and unassuming.

It got me thinking about how much happens under the ground that we don't see.

Scientists call it the "wood wide web" (which I love) — countless mycelium networks, connecting tree to tree, sharing nutrients and information.

Mushrooms only fruit when conditions are right, and their timing is perfect.

And maybe that's the lesson we're meant to take away from them… that some things just can't be rushed.

That whatever has been building beneath the surface will emerge when it's ready.

That patience isn't passive — it's just preparation.

The PNW keeps teaching me things I didn't know I needed to pay attention to — but I'm all ears 🙌
