I did a core values exercise this week and asked friends, family, and my team what they uniquely love and appreciate about me.
I got a lot of feedback that made me emotional: vision, heart, leadership, all of it.
But the one I can’t stop thinking about is grit.
My son said he uniquely appreciates my “grit, determination and unwavering unconditional love for your family.”
My co-founder said, “No matter how hard you’re pushed or how close you are to the breaking point, you never fold.”
My dad said, “Most people find it too easy to give up… Struggles slow you, but do not stop you.”
And my brother said, “It’s inspiring to see you lock in on your goals and not let distractions pull you off track.”
I’ve been marinating on why that landed so hard.
Because we all want success to be about something cleaner, the right strategy, plan, team, systems, timing.
And yes, those things matter.
But the real differentiator is stubborn perseverance.
Staying in the fight when the evidence says stop.
A lot of people don’t lose because they aren’t capable, they lose because they stop.
So if you’re in a hard season right now, maybe you don’t need a brand new plan.
Maybe you just need to stay in the game.
