Fear Dot Com came out in 2002 — a website that kills you if you visit it within 48 hours. That's the whole premise, and somehow it's still not the strangest part of the movie.
It landed weeks after The Ring hit Japan and a year before it hit the US, right in that early techno-horror wave, then got steamrolled by better movies doing the same idea. I get why. It's grimy, gothic, aggressively stylized, and honestly kind of incoherent in spots.
But I keep coming back to it. Some Seven grime, some Ring dread, a little Hellraiser mixed in, all filtered through a cursed website. Feels like the internet-horror cousin to Thirteen Ghosts and Valentine — all style, not much coherence, impossible to forget.
