How do I show up #1 on Google?

I hear contractors ask that question all the time.

The problem is most people don't understand what " #1 on Google" actually means.

When a homeowner searches for your service, there are multiple places you can show up:
Local Service Ads.
Google Ads.
AI Summary
Google Maps.
Organic SEO results.

If your goal is to be the very first thing a homeowner sees, paid ads are the only way to do it right now.

Right now, you can't SEO your way above Local Service Ads. You can't get enough reviews to jump above Google Ads.

Those top positions are reserved for businesses investing in paid visibility.

Memorial Day is one of those days that makes you slow down and appreciate just how blessed we are.

The freedom we experience every day came at a cost.

There are families who lost sons, daughters, husbands, wives, friends, and people they loved so the rest of us could live the lives we get to live today.

That sacrifice should never be taken lightly.

Really grateful today for the men and women who served this country and especially for those who gave everything for it.

Excited to finally launch the brand new website for Backer Landscaping Services LLC!

This project was a fun one for our team because I’ve actually known Nate since he was a little kid, and I had the opportunity to coach him in football.

Now getting to watch him build and grow his own business is pretty special.

Nate cares about doing things the right way, serving people well, and building something he can be proud of long term. Those are the kind of business owners we love working with.

Along with the new website, we also got him set up with our LeadSpree CRM to help organize leads, improve follow-up, and create a stronger system behind the growth.

Three years ago this week I started Promotive Marketing. And if I am being completely honest, I had no business doing it.

Liv was pregnant with Eden. I was the only income for our family. We had a mortgage. We had responsibility. All I had was a calling I could not ignore and a faith I was still learning to lean on.

The timing made no sense. The finances made no sense. And yet the pull would not go away no matter how many reasons I came up with to wait.

Liv and I talked. We prayed. We were scared. And eventually we just said yes.

Not because we figured it out. Because we felt like God was asking us to follow and we did not want to keep telling Him no.

What happened after that still humbles me every time I think about it.

We signed clients when we had no right to expect it. Provision showed up in moments when I did not know where it was coming from. At the end of that first year we had made the exact same amount as the year before when I had the safety of a full time job.

I did not do that. We did not do that. GOD DID THAT. 🙏

Three years later the business is still hard. There are weeks with more questions than answers. Days that are heavier than others. Seasons where I feel the weight of the responsibility and wonder if I am doing enough.

But I have learned to not doubt the call.

What I did not expect was how much the people along the way would mean to me. The clients who trusted us early. The business owners we got to walk alongside. The relationships that grew out of just trying to do the work the right way.

That has been one of the greatest blessings of this whole journey.

And the adversity of building this has grown my faith in ways I could not have gotten anywhere else. I would not trade any of it.

I just want to use this moment to say thank you.

To God for not letting us stay comfortable. To Liv for saying yes with me even when it was scary. To every client who trusted us along the way. To every mentor who poured into us. And to every family member and friend who believed in this before there was anything to believe in.

None of this is mine. It is all His. 🙏
