Haven't done these in a while, but one font that I find really eye catching is "Chano" 😍

It's true. The rise (or fall) of the success of your business begins with YOU! That's a big deal. So many of our favorite influencers glamorize entrepreneurship, but they rarely talk about the hard work and commitment that it takes to maintain a business in the long-run.

As a beauty business owner, I'm sure you can relate. All those late nights coming up with different formulas to get that moisturizer just right, only for it to be an epic fail and have to start all over. Do you get frustrated, give in to self defeating thoughts and just throw the whole business away? Or do you keep trying until the formula is exactly how it should be, to become the solution to that your customers desperately need?

While not having a boss to answer to may be appealing, over time it will reveal areas of your life that may need more development. Whether you're a perfectionist, or a chronic procrastinator who's simply afraid to ask for help, or you're actually not as good at Photoshop as you thought you would be and it's eating all your time away (which is why you should hire me for your next project 😉)

The point is, I can completely relate. Being a solo-preneur has revealed plenty of areas in my own life that need improvement. In fact, being your own boss can show you different aspects of yourself that being an employee for someone else won't!

If you're feeling the pressures of being your own boss, self management is one of the greatest skills you can have as a business owner, no matter what industry you may be in.

On a lighter note, whether you're a cosmetics business owner or just a small business owner in general, I really want you to be encouraged today. They are so many lessons that come with being your own boss, and at the same time, you should be proud of yourself for all the progress you've made up to this point.

If you've never actually heard of a "𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁" before, don't worry because this is a new phase that I've coined. 😅

Seriously though, have you ever made this huge mistake in your business, like me?

Another business just added fragrance oils to their selfcare line so now you panic and make same offer, expecting the same results, only for your sales to flop.

💡 This happens when you're not clear on the purpose of your business (outside of making a profit) or who your dream customer is, and what they specifically need.

💡 When you've done the work and identified these key things, you won't have to compare your beauty biz to anyone else's, you'll be thriving in your own lane.

💡 This is why I offer brand stategy add not just pretty designs. You and I will dig deep into the core of your business and where it's headed.

By the way, this also applies to using the same Canva logo that other people are using, just because it looks trendy. You deserve so much more than that. You deserve a real brand strategy that attracts your dream customers! 🙌🏾🤍

Logo refresh I've been working on for "Clean & Clear".

I added a very subtle graphic symbol to this already existing logo. Inspiration came from how foam soap tends to bubble up as you're watching your face, hence the bubbles.

I went with a fun serif font in order to really appeal to the teenage-mid 20s demographic that C&C has for their products.

I had so much fun on this passion project because skincare branding, as you know by now is a love of mine.

So, I wrapped up a small branding project last week. Here's an unused logo concept in an abstract form of the letter Z. If I had to describe my innate design style, it would definitely be geometric. I love hard angles and shapes. I thought this was really cool even though we didn't move forward with this idea. What do you think? Comment below 🙂

January... This is a fresh start and a month of new beginnings for most people, including myself.

I'll have to make a confession, in 2019 when I decided to narrow my focus down and work exclusively on brand identity + design, I was enthusiastic to craft stylish brands for my clients, but I hadn't taken the time to put that same level of attention in my own business!

To be transparent, this first month will be a month of refining my own brand voice and personality just like I've had the chance to do for my previous clients.

Moodboards are great because they can set the tone for how your business is perceived, especially from a visual standpoint and the emotional response it evokes within your audience.

Here's a little moodboard inspiration and a look into what I'm currently working on behind the scenes for my own brand personality.

2020 has been one heck of a year! Well, here are some valuable lessons that I will take with me.

1. If I want to become a millionaire I can become one! If I want to work 3 days a week and travel the other 4, that can be my reality! The only thing that can hinder me IS me. So I'm destroying my limiting beliefs.

2. With all the sickness due to Covid, and the countless people who've passed away, it was a true reminder that none of us are invincible! Our time here on Earth is limited. If there's something God has placed you on this Earth to do, get to it! Less talk, more action because you never know when it may be your last chance.

3. Here's my story in a nutshell: I'm not this thriving graphic designer who has her dream job (yet) or works with her dream clients everyday. The truth is, the end of 2019 until now has been month after month of unemployment for me. Applying for numerous jobs just to receive rejection letters, if I hear anything back at all...I've been tempted to give up the job search, sleep in 'til noon everyday and bum around. On the flip side, as a 20-something who has been faced with the reality that having a degree doesn't guarantee you a good job, I've had tons of time to gain new skills, discover new passions and gain clarity in my graphic design business. All of this I'm SO grateful for, which most likely wouldn't have come, had I been preoccupied with the safety of a 9-5. Unemployment has pushed me to pursue my own dreams and not wait around for a boss as my only source of income.

4. As an overthinker and perfectionist, I can find flaws in nearly everything I do. No I don't always feel like my skills are enough. Hence my addiction to online classes 😅 But the reward of challenging myself to take on a new task and accomplish it reminds me that I am talented and people DO need the value I have to offer.

Happy Friday! Today's font crush is "Nachel Victoria". This is a script font that looks great as an accent/ supporting font, or even a great addition if you're going for the look of a personal signature. Very stylish, but also playful.

I decided to send my Christmas cards a little early this time around. I'd rather avoid Christmas traffic while I still can 😂 For this, I used a stencil for envelope addressing by "Lettermate". This is such a great tool to have, especially if you're going to be addressing a lot of envelopes.

Where I'm from, the post offices are crowded almost everyehere you go in Delaware County! So if you can, don't wait until the last minute to take care of your mailing.

Shout out to my two best friends who will be on the receiving end of these little tokens of my appreciation. We may not talk on the phone everyday because... 🤷🏾‍♀️ But you've helped me stay encouraged in my faith during this uncertain year, we listen to each other vent regardless of how big or small the issue may be and continue to be each other's support system. 💕
