It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Richard Meeks, Assistant Chief with Curry Fire, passed away earlier this month.

We were lucky enough to spend time with Richard at FDIC in April, and anyone who met him knew immediately how much he loved this job. But even more than that, how much he loved his family. That kind of person leaves a mark.

Our thoughts are with the Curry Fire family and, most importantly, with Richard's wife and kids during this incredibly difficult time.

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

You take the call before anyone else does. You pull the information, dispatch resources, and keep responders updated, all while managing multiple channels simultaneously. You do this across long shifts, for call after call, without leaving the comm center.

The work is demanding. The hours are long. And most of the time, you never find out how the call ends.

We’re aware of an ongoing Microsoft service degradation that is impacting some dispatch centers’ ability to send data to ActiveAlert via email. This issue is within Microsoft’s services and is not related to ActiveAlert itself.

If your dispatch center uses a Microsoft Exchange server to send call data to ActiveAlert, this outage may result in delayed or missing call data and may also prevent alerts from being delivered.

ActiveAlert itself is operating normally, but inbound emails may be delayed or not received while Microsoft works through the issue.

We’re actively monitoring the situation and will share updates as needed. Thanks for your patience.
