Tonight, I got a better idea of what kind of game I'm going to be making next. At the moment, I'm designing a tight gameplay loop on paper, before I start building in-engine.

I want to be sure this system is scoped correctly (small) and that I build a solid enough gameplay architecture that it can be re-used between games.

On the menu:
A multiplayer PC game, still in the vein of a horror + rogue-like gameplay loop.

First, I'll be setting up the network architecture and showing it off as I go. The next day or two I'll be organizing and preparing to build.

The opinion of the Indie Game Awards won’t change how I develop games. As a matter of fact, I’ve solidified my personal pipeline for converting open-source models on hugging face into small, local models that I can package and bundle with my games. On-device, private LLM inference.

Some people are out here telling you to slow down and stop, while other people are trying to figure out the best way to leverage newly available technology. You can be the person releasing groundbreaking software or the person watching other people figure it out first.

Kinda messed up that when I put a game on Steam, people are buying a license to play the game rather than own the game itself. I don’t like the idea of selling a product that a third party could revoke at will from the people who already paid for it.

I’m not going to release anything on Steam without also releasing it to GOG or some other platform where you can keep the game files forever. Screw that licensing stuff.

I've been working on this one game for too long, but it's probably my best project to-date. I've still got a good feeling about this one, as I feel like I'm participating in being one of the first developers to take on a new and emerging genre.

I mean, I created this framework at a time when people were debating if it was possible or even worth the trouble. Now we're going to put a solid game-loop on top of it.

If I had a team of developers alongside me- IGN would have picked this up already. I'm just waiting to hear what this genre is going to get called... besides slop.
