Solidigm has deep roots in the Sacramento region, and many members of got their start at Sacramento State.

A recent feature in Comstock's Magazine highlights how their time at California State University-Sacramento helped build skills they use today, from strategic thinking and communication, to leadership collaboration, and relationship-building.

As Daniel Francisco, our head of global communications, shared, the region’s university network provides “a pipeline of top talent with the education, skillset and vested interest in the area.”

Louis Grobbelaar, Pam Tenorio, James Shelby II, Nora Thomas, Daseul Barrett, MBA, and Muneeb Saeed share how their experiences at the university helped shape the skills and perspectives they bring to their roles at Solidigm today.

Meet Maya Taylor, one of more than 100 Solidigm interns from around the world!
School: The University of British Columbia
Major: Electrical Engineering

Q: What were your responsibilities at Solidigm during your internship?
A: I was in the Data Center Engineering – Hardware Electrical Validation group. I worked on developing tests that characterized our boards, ensuring that our processes were reliable and accurate.

Q: What did you find interesting about working at Solidigm?
A: Getting to work on projects that have enabled me to deepen the knowledge I have gained through coursework has been really rewarding. Additionally, being able to see, hands-on, how different principles I studied changed real-world systems has been one of the most interesting parts of my internship experience.

Q: What is the biggest thing you will take away from this experience?
A: Collaboration has been instrumental. The conversations I had with colleagues while solving issues have been crucial to improving my understanding. Getting to observe how different people approach issues has helped me develop my problem-solving and theoretical understanding. To future interns, I would recommend working on problems where you get to collaborate with many people, as each person’s insights can be helpful in helping you see a complete picture.

Q: Beyond the desk?
A: I enjoy cycling and playing tennis. I am also working on improving my bird-watching and have loved getting familiar with the wonderful and neat species you can see around Vancouver!

wishes Maya all the best as she completes the final year of her degree and leads Women In Engineering UBC as co-president!

Xin Guo and Greg Matson sat down with Patrick Moorhead and Daniel Newman to talk about what breaks first when AI infrastructure scales.

The conversation airs next week!

Every training run, query, and agent leaves a measurable data footprint. At scale, those footprints can build or break ROI, making the storage layer increasingly important to the economics of AI.

Tune in to the upcoming Six Five Media Summit: AI Unleashed, to learn why emerging AI workloads are changing infrastructure requirements and how the right storage architecture can help deliver both performance and efficiency, make better use of constrained power and compute resources, and give organizations the scalability they need as AI workloads continue to evolve.

The free virtual event runs August 25-27. Catch our session at 11 AM PT on day 1! Register to attend:

The SixFive Summit event brings together the tech community for thought leadership, open dialogue, and collaboration across 3 days and 100+ expert-led sessions.

On a recent episode of the Tech Disruptors podcast, Solidigm Co-CEO Xin Guo joined Bloomberg Intelligence's Jake Silverman to explore how AI is reshaping data center storage as NAND flash-memory prices continue their unprecedented rise.

As Xin put it, "storage is no longer an afterthought in your AI infrastructure. It needs to be a day-zero design consideration, because storage has become mission-critical for your entire infrastructure efficiency, performance, and output, which turns into AI economics and your return."

Listen to the podcast and check out our full recap from the Bloomberg event.

Co-CEO Xin Guo talks NAND supply dynamics, the rise of the KV cache, and why storage has become a day-zero design decision for AI infrastructure.

Things are always changing in AI, and storage is taking on new roles and evolving alongside it. In this first video for our new series featuring voices from across the industry, Solidigm's Ace Stryker explores the emergence of a new context memory tier.

As context windows and models grow, the data AI systems need to remember can no longer live entirely in GPU and CPU memory, creating another critical job for high-density solutions like the Solidigm 122TB SSD.

Watch the video for Ace's perspective, and stay tuned for more insights on AI, storage, and the future of data infrastructure.

Recompute is one of the most expensive habit in AI inference. New lab testing from StorageReview.com shows what happens when you stop throwing away the KV cache and offload it to flash instead. On a Dell PowerEdge XE7740, KV cache offload delivered up to 2.9X higher throughput and cut first-token latency for a returning user from 13.9 seconds to 3.2 seconds.

The insight underneath the numbers: 98% of agentic traffic is cache reads, not fresh computation. The token is the product. Every recomputed token is margin you already paid for and threw away.

Full lab results: https://www.storagereview.com/review/the-token-efficient-path-for-long-context-inference-kv-cache-offload-to-flash

KV cache offload to flash on Dell's XE7740: 2.9x peak throughput, 94% sustained on Solidigm D7-PS1030, and the tokenomics math.
