GMAIL CHANGES
NOTE: This only affects those who access their domain name email accounts through Gmail.
Effective January 1, 2026, Gmail will no longer support POP. This change means that domain-based emails can no longer be imported into Gmail via POP, a configuration many of you currently use. Additionally, Google is removing spam protection for third-party accounts, something that we all appreciated. You may have already viewed the message in your Gmail mailbox. While IMAP remains an option, it is limited to the Gmail mobile app and may cause you to exceed your server hosting limits as messages remain stored on the server.
If your email is hosted with McAllister Park Design, here are your current options:
- Direct Server Access: You can access your email directly from the server as outlined in your Owner’s Manual.
- Email Forwarding: You can "forward" your domain emails to a personal Gmail account rather than using the POP protocol. Based on current information, you should still be able to send outgoing mail from your domain address through the Gmail interface.
- Alternative Applications: You may consider transitioning to other platforms such as Google Workspace (free), Microsoft Outlook (also free), Thunderbird (desktop), Betterbird (desktop), Zoho Mail (paid), or EmClient (paid). There are many others out there as well.
While I am providing these suggestions to help you prepare, I do not provide technical support for these email applications. I recommend reviewing your setup and making any necessary transitions soon to avoid service interruptions.
