I made a New Year’s resolution to do more illustrations so here’s the first for 2022. He kind of drew himself and I’m not sure what to do with him. Cards? Stickers? I feel like his name is Clyde, which isn’t very Chinese.

Had a fun afternoon donating blood and seeing my #🐬🐬 t-shirt in the real world for the first time on Sunday. The staff told me that’s it’s been really popular and the guy donating next to me said it was the whole reason he was there - LOL! Plus with this donation I hit the 3.5 gallon mark!

I was deeply, deeply moved when I saw this post today. Thank you so much for your blood donation Paul and for sharing this incredible memory. The dolphins are sketched from a pod of real dolphins I saw at La Jolla Shores last February while attending the fabulous birthday of my dear friend Judith Hand. Who knows, maybe those joyful souls are the very same ones Celia saw? In any case, best wishes to you and your family, especially Matthew. The San Diego Blood Bank does life-saving work day in and day out in our community and across the region. If you're reading this, consider donating blood, volunteering or funding them. And if you donate by October 4th you can get a Surfing Dolphins t-shirt for yourself.

These were Celina's words to her 4-year-old son, Matthew, as she lay in her hospital bed fighting a losing battle with cancer at Sharp Memorial.

Celina's husband, Paul, donated blood today and immediately texted a picture of our anniversary T-shirt to now 13-year-old Matthew. Paul sees little miracles like this all the time. When we chose the dolphins, we knew they would inspire. We just didn’t know we would be such a special part of one family’s story, and we are honored. ❤️

A Cheerful Retro-inspired T-shirt Celebrating the San Diego Blood Bank's 70th Anniversary
As many of you know, I am an avid supporter of the work blood banks do in communities around the world. As a blood drive host I'm proud to contribute to that mission and it's a great way to stay on track since I'm working to earn my own 5 gallon donor badge. So, imagine my excitement when I got the opportunity to create some original artwork to help celebrate the 70th anniversary of the San Diego Blood Bank! 2020 has been a tough year but it hasn't been all bad. For this design I wanted to create something that would be oh-so-San Diego while helping people feel hopeful and inspired. I immediately remembered one of the high points of the year for me, a very special day in February at La Jolla Shores Beach when I saw Bottlenose Dolphins surfing with pure delight in the sparkling morning surf. ​View concept sketches and learn more at my blog:

I'm back! With two active businesses and a thriving group of clients keeping me busy, about a year ago I decided to step down my social media postings. With the start of the new year I added a new mindfulness practice, which further encouraged me to spend less time in social media. Then, of course, COVID hit. With so many changes in the world, I'm now coming back to reconnect, catch up and share some news of the past few months. So, hello again friends!
