Juneteenth, the longest running African American holiday, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. On this day in 1865, the Emancipation Proclamation was read to the last enslaved African Americans in Texas, by Gen. Gordon Granger, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.⠀
⠀⠀
Even though freedom was granted over 155 years ago, equality has been a struggle that still rages on in the United States. The ongoing institutional and systemic racism levied upon Black people has been brought to the forefront of our national discussion, and amplified over the last few weeks, and this is not the time to lay off the gas. We are at a critical inflection point in history, so we urge you to use this Juneteenth as a day to reflect and keep on fighting for justice in any way you can. Peacefully protest, donate, sign petitions, or offer up your skills and resources if you have the means to. ⠀

The DVLPstudio team will be using this opportunity to not only celebrate Black excellence and achievements, but to also further educate ourselves on the true history of America through the works of Black thought leaders. We offer FREE WEBSITES year-round to select non-profit organizations that are directly aiding the Black community and the fight against racism. Visit our website's Social Impact page or DM us if you're interested in this program.⠀
