Well... At Least They're Honest 😂

I printed more than a dozen of these for a customer, and every time I looked over at the stack, they made me smile. 😂

"Hope you like animals and kids because it's a zoo inside."

In today's busy world, sometimes a little honesty and a good laugh at the front door is exactly what we need.

I believe these were headed for doormats, which is also a fun reminder that DTF transfers aren't limited to T-shirts!

DTF creates a durable, flexible print that can stand up to regular use and washing when applied to an appropriate washable fabric. That opens the door (pun absolutely intended 😏) to all kinds of projects beyond apparel - totes, fabric accessories, home décor, event items and plenty more.

That's one of my favorite things about printing transfers: customers are constantly showing me applications I never would have thought of myself.

So now I have to ask...

One year ago, I packed up this box.

It was the very first customer order I fulfilled and shipped from Roman Empire Print Shop.

I remember sending it out knowing that someone had trusted me with their order - and hoping it would be the first of many.

A year later, looking at this photo means so much more than it did that day.

I am incredibly thankful for the blessing and opportunity I've had to build this business. I'm thankful for my business partner, Jason in Montana, for giving me the opportunity to become part of Roman Empire and for everything we've worked to grow together.

I'm thankful for the business owners, makers, organizations, friends, and people I've met along the way who have shared advice, offered encouragement, sent referrals, opened doors, or simply cheered me on.

And most of all, I'm thankful for every customer who has trusted Roman Empire Print Shop since this first box left my hands.

Every gang sheet.
Every single transfer.
Every rush order.
Every business logo.
Every team, event, wedding, reunion, memorial, celebration, and wonderfully unusual project someone has brought through our door.

You've helped build this business.

So much has changed in one year. Our processes are better. Our products are better. Our capabilities have grown. Production has become faster and more efficient. We've taken on projects I wouldn't have dreamed of tackling when I shipped this first order - and I've learned an incredible amount along the way.

There have been mistakes. There have been challenges. There have definitely been some very long days. 😂

But there has also been an incredible amount of growth.

And there is absolutely no stopping now.

Sometimes the coolest projects come from asking, "Okay... but what if we tried it THIS way?" 😄

This handmade birthday card is such a fun example.

UV transfers aren't something we typically recommend applying directly to paper products. The adhesive can grab the surface extremely well, and removing the carrier film has the potential to damage more delicate materials.

So instead of fighting the material, this crafter worked WITH it.

The car was applied to its own separate piece, then raised from the card to create this awesome shadowbox-style 3D effect.

The result? A completely personalized, one-of-a-kind birthday card with an extra layer of dimension that makes the car practically jump off the page.

This is one of the things I love most about DTF and UV printing. There are the applications everyone knows about... and then there are the ideas creative people haven't thought of yet.

Sometimes a material has limitations. Creativity is figuring out how to design around them.

And THAT'S where things get fun.

We originally made this mug just for fun. ☕️

We played around with AI to create personalized artwork, applied it with one of our UV transfers, and made a couple of mugs for ourselves here at the shop.

It wasn't supposed to be a durability test.

Then a customer recently asked me a great question: How well do UV transfers actually hold up over time?

Instead of just telling him, I could show him.

This mug has been used, handled, and run through our dishwasher countless times -and the transfer still looks like it did when I applied it.

Sometimes the best product testing happens when you're not trying to test the product at all. 😂

UV transfers are a fun way to add full-color, detailed designs to hard surfaces without needing specialty printing equipment - and apparently our little Rock Star Club mug has been quietly doing quality control for us this whole time. ⭐️

Built to Stay Outside

One of my favorite projects has actually been sitting outside my own shop for over a year.

This lawn sign was printed using UV technology, which makes it perfect for outdoor use. Through sun, rain, sprinklers, and changing seasons, the print still looks just as vibrant today as it did when I first installed it. The only maintenance it's needed is an occasional wipe to remove hard water spots.

Even though I originally made this sign for Roman Empire Print Shop, it's something we can create for businesses, events, grand openings, real estate, contractors, political campaigns, yard celebrations, graduations, birthdays, and so much more.
