✅ The solutions will revolve around three key areas: safety, loss of top speed at the end of straights, and allowing drivers to push to the limit in qualifying.
1- Simplifying the regulations so performance depends more on the driver than on electronics.
2- Increasing ‘super clipping’ power to 350 kW (up from the current 250 kW), which would reduce lift and coast.
3- Adjusting energy deployment so it doesn’t run out as quickly — cars currently have too much power in the wrong places.
4- Reducing the per-lap energy recovery limit from 9 MJ to 6 MJ, making it easier for drivers to reach the limit and reduce lift and coast. However, this would also mean less total energy, potentially making the cars slower.
5- Allowing active aerodynamics across the entire circuit in qualifying, similar to how DRS was used in 2011 and 2012.
6- In the long term, placing greater emphasis on the combustion engine over the electric component.
These measures are set to be presented on April 9 during a meeting between Formula 1, the FIA, and the teams.
