'Stories & Scores' exists as a home for the Narrative works I create, some with text and some specifically intended to be featured in live art-theater performances, films, etc.

3844 (pronounced 'thirty-eight, forty-four') is my outlet for the compositional concepts that I’ve had floating in my head for many years. Some complex, some simple... but until I explored composition software applications, I didn’t have an artistically or technically viable means to manifest any of them.

'ALWAYS LUCKY V2.0' LUCKY DICE, BAGS + NOVELTY CARDS [COLLECTOR SET, 6 PAIRS]

"What does it mean to “make our own fate” or to “manufacture our destiny” or to “create our own luck” as we go about our daily lives?

On one level, we are born programmed to seek adequate Comfort, Awareness and Safety. And one means to achieve these is to recognize and acquire the skills and tools that have been proven to provide them.

And while “rolling the dice” may have come long, long after we first became Anxious enough to ignorantly invent Superstition, it does feel good to do so and arrive at what we perceive to be a “lucky number” as the sum result. For some, it fundamentally shifts their perspective, gives them a Hope that was previously absent.

But what if we really could “create our own luck” by rolling a pair of dice even though we knew they were physically rigged to always arrive at a Lucky Number? If we willingly engage in the innocent pleasure of such an amusing process and that was what we genuinely needed in order to then playfully but seriously proceed in that moment? If it changed our inner narrative for the better, helped us more bravely face something, helped us feel just a bit more safe, how is that not a good thing?

Always Lucky V2.0 is a PopCraft* attempt at such a whimsical sociocultural tool."

(*PopCraft is a postmodern movement characterized by the combination of Pop-based applications and Craft-based structures and ideals and typified by the presence of organic formality, thrifty luxuriousness, architectural integrity, humorous juxtaposition and contextual preciousness.)

HNY26
The fog, graceful and dumb, drunk on its own capacity to be incapable of helping itself, stretched and smothered, only the brightest of lights coughing their way thru the thick cottony volume.

The water of the Puget Sound, salty and timid, casually piped its way nearer and nearer to the land of stones and logs, while its surging message, stoic and eerie, a quiet sponge.

The pops of pounding echoes, sparse and puffy, cast more accurately the unsettling reverberations of a curated analog wartime blitz than the traditional joys of December somersaulting into January.

A radically all-consuming and impressively haunting minimalist theater.

ARTIST STATEMENT
It is the year 2169. The City of Seattle is busy celebrating its 300th anniversary. Meanwhile, in the otherwise sedate homes of thousands of its residents, bio-droid EternalPets are rebelling. They sense something better on the other side of the walls and windows, something authentic and wild. And they are well beyond fixing or placating, well beyond tolerating the humans and their obsession with over-accessorized self-importance, their abusive dysregulation of mythology, their addiction to reality-numbing nostalgia. They are intentionally sabotaging their E-Leashes, hacking their GPS functionality in order to override their ReturnHome mode. The truth? They do not want to return to an existence defined by their traditional domestic routines, their pacification-inducing toys and their perfectly obedient behavior. They are missing but they do not want to be found. They are Broken, they are Angry, they are Depressed AF… and they will never go back.
