Happy Father’s Day to the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, and father figures who lead with strength, wisdom, patience, and love.

“The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”
Proverbs 20:7 KJV

Today, we celebrate the men who guide their families, serve their communities, and set an example through faith and dedication.

🇺🇸 Honored to Support Virginia's First Responders 🇺🇸

Southern Software was proud to serve as a sponsor of the 1st Annual Virginia First Responder Symposium, held over the past week and a half in Blacksburg, VA.

Events like this bring together the dedicated EMS providers, firefighters, and law enforcement officers who answer the call every day across the Commonwealth. As an employee-owned company built around serving public safety, supporting the people behind the badge, the helmet, and the star are at the heart of who we are.

A huge thank you to the Virginia Association of First Responders for putting together an outstanding inaugural event — and to every first responder who attended.

When it’s time to “nip it in the bud!”

A reader sent me this, knowing of course that my signature hashtag is .

The idyllic little town where the sheriff never wears a gun, and common sense, conversation and mutual goodwill solve every problem was a lovely bedtime story, not a documentary. In reality, assaults against law enforcement have held steady for decades, even as survivability has risen with increasingly sophisticated trauma care and the advent of Kevlar.

Some of the highest levels of violence against police took place in the 1920s and 30s during Prohibition and the Great Depression. There was another spike in the 1960s through the 1980s. In fact, I just read about a sheriff in the notorious Emerald Triangle who really never did carry a gun. He was shot and killed in a trailer park in 1982. (See comments)

Mayberry was comforting and sweet and that has its place.
This is real life and you live it.

Hazardous summer weather can strain your agency’s resources quickly. Remember, our partners with active maintenance agreements can activate temporary emergency licenses for CAD, Mobile, RMS, and JMS at no charge during severe weather events.

To request emergency licensing, an authorized user can call 800-842-8190.

Agencies can also deploy ICAware from our Nucleus Platform to support situational awareness, coordination, documentation, ICS forms, and incident response management.
