Mastering the Rules of the Road: Your Guide to Trucking Legal & Compliance 🚛

Let’s talk straight for a minute. You can be the absolute best at negotiating freight rates, but if you don't understand the legal and compliance side of transportation, you are building your dispatch business on quicksand.

In this final segment of the Dispatch ABCs, we are breaking down the regulatory powerhouse acronyms you must know to protect your carriers and your reputation: DOT, FMCSA, MC numbers, ELDs, and the costly reality of being placed Out of Service (OOS).
Too many people try to cut corners or "play cute" with roadside inspections, and they always pay the price. Let’s change the culture of this industry by doing things the right way, staying compliant, and protecting our drivers.

Comment "SHEET" below if you want my complete, master list of the Dispatch ABCs sent straight to your inbox so you can reference it daily!

The Dispatch Terms That Will Make or Break Your Cash Flow

If you're trying to charge full truckload prices for LTL, or getting stuck at an appointment gate for 24 hours without detention pay, you are bleeding money.

Let's look at the facts:
FTL vs. LTL: Don't let brokers trick you into full-load stress for partial-load pay.
Deadhead (DH): This is unpaid work. Your goal is to shrink this number down to zero.
OS&D: Over, short, and damaged. If you don't protect your paperwork at delivery, you're exposing your business to massive financial loss.

Stop guessing your way through broker calls. Drop a comment below asking for the dispatch cheat sheet, and I'll send it directly to your inbox.

The Freight Dispatch ABCs: Financials & Pricing Decoded 🚛

Alright guys, looks like we’re getting into this! If you want to succeed as a carrier or a dispatcher in this industry, you have to talk the talk, but more importantly, you have to know your numbers.

In this video, I’m breaking down the "Orange Category" of our dispatch blueprint: Financials & Pricing. From calculating your actual Cost Per Mile (CPM) to fighting for Detention Pay (DET) and handling those slow-moving Lumper Fees (LMP), we are setting the record straight.
As your mentor, my advice to you is simple: Don't be greedy with your accessorial fees, but don't leave money on the table either. Open, honest communication is what builds long-term partnerships.

Slam on the Brakes: Trucker Health Matters

Health, wellness, and mental clarity are under-talked about in the logistics industry. Eating garbage on the road isn't just killing your body—if you're an owner-operator, it's draining your bank account. Take control of your cab, buy a simple plug-in cooker, and buy groceries with intention. I did it, and it changed my entire life on the road. Want my road recipes? Comment below!

Happy Friday Everyone!

So this week is a little different. We have had a few good and bad. We had our first incident regarding driving. Our driver other than having the situation occur at all, did everything right. Reported it correctly, filled out the accident report. I felt bad for him, he thought I was going to fire him. I have always said you can hit a Ferrari and tell me about it and I am going to write you up, or you can hit a blown out Honda and try to hide it and I will fire you on the spot. So not that our boy hit a Ferrari but I will say this. There is some room for growth and honestly I am fine with it.

On the Mission Assist 360 side things are still coming along. Bugs are being worked out and it’s been a minute since we have had a hiccup. If you hadn’t seen it come hang out.

Lastly, now that things are heating up out there. Remember to hydrate early and often. Be intentional about the fuel you put in your body. If you are someone OTR you are not stuck eating trash from the truck stops. There are so many different ways to eat cheaper, healthier, and be better for it than the readily available stuff on the shelves.

I want you all to know if you have questions reach out anytime! I also want to mention share this. Tag someone who could use some help or has some questions they cant seem to find the answer to.

Take care everyone!

Happy Saturday (It’s going to be a soggy one for many of us!)

This week I want to talk to you guys about resiliency. As people and business owners. We all have laid some of the best plans only for them to go by the wayside due to unforeseen circumstances. As business owners we need to be fluid, flexible, emotionally intelligent, and able to take in new information and pivot to make the best decision.
Where are my veterans at?? How many times do we plan for A, B, C and end up executing plan F?

This is what I want to coach to everyone. Keep pushing, keep learning, take in new information, hear different opinions. There is nothing wrong with changing your mind and reversing course. It is a sign of maturity and emotional intelligence. What that means, you were thinking of buy a flatbed trailer, maybe you get a box truck instead. You were entertaining a a new vendor. Maybe they do good work but are terrible at the business side. They are poor communicators, show up late, over promise and under deliver. Do you walk away? Does walking away mean you failed? Was it a waste of your time?

Only if you decide that you have wasted your time. I see it differently. You learned something valuable. About those around you, how you and your business want to interact with the world. What you and your business will tolerate. These are critical lessons that can build a foundation to your operation or set you up for failure.

Keep pushing! Keep putting one foot in front of the other! I see you grinding, be as proud of yourself as I am of you! Think about where you were 5 years ago, how about 10? Hold your head up!

Share this for the person seen or unseen who needs to see it. As always if you have questions ask someone. Not just AI. AI will get you close but it cant compare to time in the industry.
