It's important to remember that as designers or researchers we have access to a lot of tools and methods. And not all situations will require the same efforts. But it's also important to remember to figure out what works best and use that as a core approach until you find it no longer works. Too often we (myself included) get wrapped up in new and interesting theories or ways of accomplishing tasks and we forget that multiple people are involved in the process. Those people may not have the time or desire to reinvent the wheel and need to get to a solution using what they know works. So we need to strike a balance between trustworthy and repeatable processes and novel methodology.
Here's a list of some good UX methods to add to the mix if you feel as if there's something lacking in your approach. Choose wisely! 😉
