Every day family members rise early to get a few moments to themselves before their loved one with Alzheimer?s begins their day. This may be the only quiet moment they have to themselves. Often a person with dementia feels more comfortable having another person in sight. The family caregiver may not even be able to use the bathroom without their loved one close. The stress of these daily cares is tiresome, yet families continue to provide care for many reasons. They work from sun up to sun down and often during the night. Day after day. This is their life. It is not the life they imagined. It is not the life they would have chosen. However, they accept it and continue to move forward.
On June 20th from sun up to sun down, Juanita Funkhouser will walk in their honor. For only one day, she will spend the time supporting their efforts. It is not much. It is not enough.
