This is what "custom" actually looks like.

I built a site for a local bakery whose owner mentioned she thought it would be cool to have a cake builder on her website. I went home and built her an interactive cake designer for her website.

That choice exists for one business, on purpose.

Pull up your own website on your phone right now. Don't scroll. Just look at what's on the screen.

Can you see your phone number? Your hours? Whether you're open today?

If the answer is no — that's the problem. Because that's the entire reason most people looked you up in the first place. They're sitting in their car in the parking lot at 6:40pm wondering if you're still open. They're not reading your "About Us." They want one fact, and they want it in three seconds.

If they can't find it, they don't call to ask. They just go somewhere else. You never even know it happened.

So: hours and phone number, top of the page, no scrolling, big enough to read without squinting. That's it. That's the whole tip.

It's not fancy. But it's the difference between someone walking in your door and someone driving past it.
