A recent McAfee AntiVirus update has really messed up some computers. The program incorrectly detects SVCHOST.exe as a virus and quarantines it, making the system unable to boot. If you were affected by this update, McAfee is offering to pay for the cost to repair your computer. If you need help regarding this issue, we can help and send the bill to McAfee. Exploits not needed to attack via PDF files.

You all should know this already, but I will stress it again. You should never open a PDF file from an untrusted source. There is a new method to infect your computer using PDF documents. This new method does not use any exploits in the programs. The vector of attack is built into the PDF specifications and no fix is out yet. For more info read the CNET article below.

Researchers devise ways to get malware onto computers, and even into clean PDF files, without exploiting any holes in the PDF reader software or using JavaScript. Read this blog post by Elinor Mills on InSecurity Complex.
