There is a really common misconception that I see everywhere, causing people to unknowingly waste a lot of money and frustration over something entirely and easily repairable if they just were aware of what I'm going over now.
​Fast and Short Answer: Modern smartphones and computers/laptops don't lose power with age nearly at all. The perceived slowdown is almost always an incorrect correlation; the decrease over time is actually from improper device management over an extended period.
​Good new’s though, it is entirely repairable.
​Very little (if any at all) of the presumed "wear and tear" people report is actually from the age of the device. It is normal for the average user to unknowingly accumulate processes that run in the background. Eventually, these pile up to make a noticeable difference, which is then blamed on age—so nothing gets done to fix it. A physically healthy device is then tossed for being "worn out," while the "wear" it was trashed for was actually a software issue.
​And it's not an exaggeration to say "entirely" repairable. Assuming it wasn't hit with a hammer, a processor from 2021 used today still has the exact same processing power as it did the day it was made. The modern silicon used to create these components simply does not degrade like that.
​The only physical thing that could be limiting process speed is dust building up to block airflow, or dust settling on the components like a winter coat for the cpu. And this problem iz even more easily repairable. The only reason that slows down a system is because modern technology won't let you permanently damage it that easily, it will automatically detect the heat and slows itself down as much as needed to stay safely cool.
