What is double-texting in AI applications?

In this video we demonstrate how Basejump AI handles double-texting. In essence, Basejump's AI assistant is able to respond to multiple prompts in parallel. It's a really neat feature that has the power to dramatically improve time-to-insight. Get answers to multiple questions at once!

We prioritize security, and one of the ways that shows is by not indexing table data itself.

This should be table stakes for any company using a text-to-SQL application. If you're shopping for an application that will write SQL for you, make sure to ask if they index your table data itself.

At Basejump AI, we don't and it's not necessary. Some research papers have proposed indexing tables data and using retrieval over that data in order to improve performance. This may be fine in research scenarios, but not in production.

One example is the "Text2SQL is Not Enough: Unifying AI and Databases with TAG": https://arxiv.org/abs/2408.14717

Interesting paper, but it relies on indexing table rows and retrieving them as part of the solution. This should definitely be avoided in a production-grade deployment for security reasons.

One way that this obviously shows is that there are some companies out there charging what our lowest tier charges for over 90% less queries than what we offer.

Our pricing is transparent. No max downloads, no total rows, it's based on questions (aka queries). We're a platform built to retrieve data using AI and the main way that happens is through queries. Plain and simple.

With the decreasing price of AI inference, there should be no reason that it costs hundreds of dollars for < 1000 queries per month. With our tool, we estimate the average user is asking 15 questions per day. That's why we provide 9000 queries for our lowest tier with up to 20 users.

Other companies offering 'unlimited users' for only a few hundred queries per month is being disingenuous.

There is no doubt that generative AI systems will take a human in the loop to get the correct output. By having a person iterate with the AI, that person can help guide the AI if the thinking is not quite right.

We added a built-in 'report an issue' option last week that is now built into every response so we can quickly improve our product based on user feedback. AI products definitely benefit from additional feedback so the next release can always be better than the last.

We're adding features quickly! We're getting great feedback from our initial users and we will share new features as we release them.

What features should a 'chat with your database' app have?

Here are some of the features we've included with the initial release of our product:
- Ability to save datapoints generated within the chat to a 'data' tab that keeps a record of all saved datapoints
- A page to explore the database and how tables available to the team are related along with the ability to add metadata to a table
- RBAC via organization into teams - only users within the same team have access to the same database tables
- Sharing of data within a team - certain metrics and datasets can grow in popularity as they are shared within a team
- The ability to group all related metrics into a collection and label them
- A comparison tool to see how datapoints are related and what the differences are between them
- Caching of results to answer similar questions in the future
