This is a secondary logo. What is a secondary logo? Logos have different uses. They are used in different spaces. Sometimes the full version of the logo does not fit properly so you need a smaller secondary logo. The Instagram circles on the profile or saved stories are a perfect example. This secondary logo is also going to be used on a custom metal stamp for the jewelry. The full version will simply not do the job.

Why the black background? Yes, it looks elegant. This is a test. Logos have to work on white backgrounds (negative white space) and inverse (negative black space.) Negative black space, or inverse does not mean just the color black. A logo, on any surface, should function well graphically. That means it should be legible and communicate effectively. It could be on a t-shirt of any color other than white, a business card that is not white, a postcard, a website that has any background color other than white, etc. Sometimes the font gets lost on the color backgrounds, especially when the logo is reduced in size. It loses eligibility and just looks fuzzy. You have to test the logo with a black and white background to see if it works well; if it doesn't work, you change it until it does.

I designed this logo for a woman owned business that is on a mission to empower women. This logo had to be simple and elegant. When in use alongside the jewelry it had to complement the product instead of competing with it. The serifed font adds that touch of elegance. The sans serif font and the horizontal line ground the design thus making it a pleasure for the eyes to see.
