✨The Sky is the Limit, Shoot for the Stars!✨
Big thanks to , and my old friends at for this amazing opportunity and beautiful installation of this traffic box I designed last year. Originally I planned for this to be on Chauncey Hill where I spent a lot of my time hanging out in high school and college. However I couldn’t be happier with the new location in front of Mackey Arena!
This piece features both Gus Grissom & Amelia Earhart, and holds a lot of meaning to me personally. When I first moved to Lafayette in 2004 I lived on the east side just down the road from a cornfield that had a runway in the middle of it, I was always told that was what used to be Earhart Airport. Fast forward to present day and I’m living in Lawrence County the home of 3 Astronauts, one of which is Purdue alumni Gus Grissom-if you didnt know, he is actually from Mitchell, IN. How is that for synchronicity?! The drawings on each of the short sides of this box feature each if my kids hands Dallas is throwing a paper airplane, and Luxe Is drawing a rocket ship.
As tragic as it was for both Earhart and Grissom in the end, their work and contributions continued to inspire generations to come. And as for someone like me who never finished college it’s opportunities like this that mean the world to me! ❤️
