Phishing is an easy and automated approach for bad actors to gain sensitive information, compromise a system, or test your business's security mechanisms.

These are indications that the email, text, or call could be a phishing attempt:

- Sense of urgency to do or provide something

- A scenario stating you won something or have been selected as a winner

- Hyperlinks that you cannot verify (URL shortener)

- Unusual sender that you can't verify

- Attachments included and you are unable to verify the sender

- Maintain patching of all your systems
- Use extra caution when clicking on links at any time and when opening email attachments
- If possible do not use an admin account (elevate privileges when changes are needed)
- Verify senders emails, URL paths, and certificates
- Leverage protective/preventative tools (Anti-Virus, firewalls, IPS, application whitelisting)
