Our first visit to Rebel’s Bar for a Cuppa & Catch Up, and we were really impressed!
There were seven of us today, and we all took advantage of the £5 cuppa and cake offer.
The sweet treats on offer today included lemon drizzle loaf cake, banana & chocolate chip loaf cake, carrot cake cupcakes, and millionaire's shortbread.
The cuppas were lovely too, and if you fancy a second one, the prices are very reasonable (even without the cake!) 😊.

It's always great to support local businesses, and this is definitely one we'll be returning to 🍰☕️🍪

A fabulous evening at our June meeting when the last Captain of the QE2 told us all about his life aboard the beautiful ship.
Captain Sir lan McNaught navigated us through his fascinating collection of photographs & memories from the early days to his last (obviously) emotional day leaving her in Dubai ready to be turned into a hotel 😔.
He regaled us with tales of 'Scary Mary' (the Queen Mary 2 cruise liner he wasn't a great admirer of) meeting the late Queen & Prince Philip on numerous occasions, STILL working with the HRH the Princess Royal (he hasn't fully retired), plus so much more.
I'm sure we could all have remained 'on board' for several more hours, listening to his stories and asking countless more questions had time not finally called us back 'to shore'.

What an incredible voyage through life he's led. And you can guarantee he has a lot of stories still to be told😉

🪴We also held a fundraising Plant & Garden sale with all money raised going to Boldon and Cleadon Community Library . While we didn't quite reach last year's total, we still raised a very respectable amount, and I'm sure the Library will be delighted with the support and generosity shown on the night.

Our latest Supper and Social was hosted by our former President Jude. The theme for the evening was ‘Supper on sticks’, no fancy cooking needed 😉.
Lots of lovely food brought along from savoury koftas to sweet fruit kebabs , and all delicious.
A fun night where the chat was flowing- it was 11pm before we knew it!
Talk of extra curricular activity groups (age is just a number & not a barrier 😉), holidays, & days gone by finding photos on our phones of ourselves when we were younger

A wonderful time had by all who attended, thanks of course to Jude for welcoming us into her gorgeous home.
Pom poms anyone ? 😂

At our next meeting on Thursday 11th June, we're welcoming the last captain of the QE2, Captain Sir lan McNaught, for what promises to be a fascinating talk on the legendary ship and the History of Cruising.

Ahead of the presentation, we will be hosting a Plant & Garden Bring and Buy Sale. All proceeds from the sale will go directly to our Charity of the Year, Boldon and Cleadon Community Library, helping to support this important community resource.

Visitors are always welcome. For more details, please message via this page or our email is-

Dear members , this is a gentle reminder of the memorial service taking place for Cynthia Hudson on 27 th June . Many members knew Cynthia and I know a number of you intend to go to the service . I have been asked for some indication of numbers of WI members attending for the benefit of the caterers . If you could message me by June 4 if you are hoping to attend I can let them know . I think theyjust need a general indication.
Many thanks , Margaret Carter

Nice cuppa & catch up for 11 of us earlier at Cafe Boldon. Always plenty of chat, laughter and also ideas for trips, visits & future coffee mornings.
Thank you to the ladies that could make it this morning, it's always a popular venue and lovely to see some of our newer members come along too. We always say these smaller group meetings are a great way of getting to know your fellow members in a quieter setting away from the busyness of our monthly meetings.
All members are always welcome to attend ☺️
