Supporting graphics for the glow-up. The illustration pattern is very simple, with strokes of equal weight for each icon—just like the peach “O”. Patterns include expected symbols such as lotus and sun, but can incorporate more unique icons such as local architecture or landmarks. Photographic lighting leans natural: golden hour, morning light, and occasional overcast softness. Background images reflect a moody beauty of the natural and man-made elements of the city, such as the play of light on concrete.

Peachtree Pose operates on a balance of local flavor and energetic escape. Its identity is layered: Southern yet modern, grounded yet light. Colors, typography, textures, and images all echo this interplay. Every asset should feel part of the same sun-dappled, peach-tinged world.

Type considerations: SKLOW. I was looking for a versatile sans serif font for a modern logo and clean, minimalist layout design. I love a font with glyphs: lots of special characters, flourishes, and alternate letterforms. And Sklow does not disappoint. Plus, it has several weights and styles to support the brand.

I licensed this through Creative Fabrica. But I know that having a font that is easy to implement in websites and software like Canva is important. So for the header and body text on a website I recommend using Montserrat. It is free and open-source and very similar to Sklow with clean lines and x-height.

Color palette considerations for Peachtree Pose. Peach, naturally, needed to be one of the primary colors. But to balance that out the use of a warm green. It reflects Atlanta's a long, green growing season. For a pop of color, the accent is cola red. Yes, I'm looking at you, Coke. Additional colors of sky and ground are added for neutral tones.

Peachtree Pose is the first of my “brand new day” series. It has been loads of fun to conceptualize. (It makes me want to start my own pop-up yoga biz). What fictional brand would you like to see come to life? Post in the comments! If I use your idea, I’ll give you a shout-out.

I've started a new series of personal projects that allow me to flex in business sectors that are new to me. The premise is simple: dream up a fictional business, write a mini creative brief, and design the essentials. Think fonts, color palettes, supporting graphics, and mockups that give the concept life. Stay tuned!

Follow along as I design real and fictitious brands. Building a brand doesn’t happen overnight, but it sure makes for a bright new day.

A pop-up business needs a good communications vehicle to get the word out. So I looked at designs for Peachtree Pose's mobile app.

Why design a fictional yoga brand? Here's my back story. I chose to create a yoga brand because of my involvement in the fitness industry as an instructor for the last decade. I see a lot of potential for business growth in personal training and group fitness. And I want to help these professionals reach their audience.

Peachtree Pose mockups: Showing the logo IRL helps you see the brand's potential. Brand tone: A breezy confidence—not polished luxury, but stylish spontaneity.

It's time to start showcasing brands I’ve designed for real and fictitious businesses. First up is a faux brand for a yoga pop-up studio based in Atlanta: Peachtree Pose. The name came from the common yoga pose called the "tree pose". It doesn't hurt that there are so many streets in ATL using the name "Peachtree." And of course the peach is Georgia's famous hallmark. The Peachtree Pose studio brings boutique, experiential yoga workouts to unique locations around the metro: Atlanta Zoo, Botanical Garden, Truist Park, Georgia Aquarium, etc. (I really love the idea of yoga with the beluga whales. I hope someone will be my angel investor to get this rolling. :)

TLDR: In my blog I'm sharing colors, fonts, styles, and mock-ups for a for a real or fictitious brand, plus my problem-solving thoughts behind those choices. Meet Peachtree Pose, an Atlanta yoga pop-up studio.

I had opportunity to collab with to design the winter menu layout for Rootstock restaurant in Woodstock. The owners wanted a menu design that was more reflective of the elevated dining experience created by their new executive chef, Thomas Mikesell. This more formal layout, while less playful than original, still follows brand guidelines originally created for the restaurant by Tom Cox.
