NOCTURNAL BY NATURE:
A fun little insomnia driven homage/parody design to the 2 music cultures I had the privilege to grow up in and watch grow.
This is a tribute to
my exposure and love for hip hop (hence a parody of a hip hop group called naughty by nature).
to rave culture
And to those, like me, who burned the candles at both ends and worked a "traditional job" that allowed them to do their passion 'til the wee hours of the morning only to repeat the cycle the next day. For me these two passions were throwing electronic music events & graphic design
As a product of the 1980s magnet school program (a way to encourage schools to address de facto racial segregation), I was one of the many "privelged" white kids that spent 4th-12th grade being bused to schools in neighborhoods that the rich, politicians and media deemed "ghetto". Which would explain why I i gravitated towards hip-hop despite not being TRULY able to identify with hip-hop culture.
In my freshmen year of college I discovered the underground rave scene (another genre, like many, that owes a lot, if not most to black culture). For the next 20+ years hardcore, trip-hop, house, jungle, drum & bass & early uk dubstep (primarily jungle/ drum & bass) would be a staple soundtrack to my life.
*sorry for the horrible grammatical errors and typos. I clearly need more sleep.
shout out to those that create and push hip hop and rave culture and to the graphic designers that inspire me especially for encouraging the 529 crew and to of for the inspiration to push the music we love
