Etteplan's test laboratory in Jyväskylä, Finland, has been included among the test laboratories recognized by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), the corresponding Canadian authority. Going forward, customer companies can have the testing required for the North American market carried out for their products at Etteplan, in the same laboratory as the testing of products intended for the EU market.

Stricter rules for environmental claims are coming. The EU's new Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (EmpCo) Directive takes effect in September 2026. What does it mean for corporate sustainability communications?

The directive aims to help consumers make better informed purchasing decisions and to prevent greenwashing. At the same time, it sets stricter requirements than before for companies' environmental claims.

Key changes for companies:

• Environmental claims must be specific and unambiguous
• Claims must be backed by reliable, fact-based data
• Claims will need to be verified by a third party
• Rules on the use of sustainability labels are being clarified

👉🏻 Companies should already make sure that there is sufficient and reliable evidence behind the sustainability claims. Etteplan helps you set climate targets, build realistic implementation plans, and produce and verify the data your environmental claims need.

Ten identical pumps. Two of them are wearing out. How long do they have left?

That was the task for six of our engineers in Sweden last week. Sensor data from a real industrial pump station, two hours, and one catch built into the data that no choice of model can solve.

Finding it took engineering judgment, not a better algorithm. That was the whole point. 👩🏽‍💻
