CVE-2026-262… CVE-2026-what?! 😅

Boitumelo had one job: read the CVE numbers. And honestly, we don't blame her for the Lilo & Stitch comparison because at this point these vulnerability names really do sound like experiment classifications.

But jokes aside, the sheer number of SharePoint CVEs in the last year alone tells you something important: patching and monitoring your environment is not optional anymore.

Watch the full conversation with GTconsult Security Analyst Kyle Farr to understand what CVE-2026-45659 actually means for your SharePoint On-Prem environment and what you should be doing about it right now.

If you've ever dev'd something in SharePoint and whispered "I'm a genius" to yourself... we should talk.

GTconsult is hiring a Senior Microsoft 365 Developer in Cape Town (hybrid) and we're looking for someone who lives and breathes the Microsoft productivity stack. SPFx, Power Automate, TypeScript, Azure, Copilot agents... if those words make your heart beat faster, you might be our person.

Are you our guy or gal?

Why are we suddenly seeing more SharePoint CVEs? Kyle's answer is one every IT leader should sit with for a moment.

The vulnerabilities themselves are not new. Most of them have been sitting in the code for years, undiscovered. What has changed is that AI is now helping attackers analyse code paths and chain together small, individually low-severity vulnerabilities into something far more dangerous.

A CVE rated 2 or 3 might look harmless on its own. Combine three of them in the right order, and you've effectively built a 9.5. The implication for defenders is uncomfortable but important: you cannot only worry about the headline-grabbing scores anymore. 🤖

POV: You discover your company still runs critical processes on InfoPath… in 2026. 😅

Unfortunately, Microsoft won’t be as calm about it.

InfoPath retires on 14 July 2026, and unsupported forms won’t simply keep working forever. Organisations still using legacy forms should already be auditing what exists and planning replacements.

The lesson: technical debt stays quiet… until it sends a calendar invite.

63 days.

That is how long you have before Microsoft ends all support for SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019. No more security patches. No more bug fixes. No more phone calls to Microsoft when something breaks.

And it is not just a support issue. Your compliance posture, your custom workflows, your internal tools built on classic SharePoint — all of it is on borrowed time.

Our Delivery Manager Barend Olivier walked through exactly how this plays out inside your business in our recent webinar, 2026: Out with the Classic.

Your IT team hits a wall. Microsoft won't take the call. Your systems slow down, break, or stop loading entirely.

And suddenly, everything that relied on SharePoint comes to a halt.

That's the reality facing organisations still running SharePoint 2016 or 2019 after 14 July 2026.

In our recent webinar, 2026: Out with the Classic, our support manager Barend Olivier walked through exactly how the end-of-support deadline creates a domino effect.

No more patches. No more security fixes. No more support.

If you haven't started planning your migration yet, this is your sign.

The latest SharePoint CVE has a CVSS score of 6.5. Medium severity. Last one was a 9.8.

So, is this one less of a problem? Sort of. But not in the way you'd think.

In this clip, our Security Analyst Kyle Farr explains why severity scores reflect how easy an attack is to pull off in isolation, not the damage it can cause when combined with other exposures. A medium-severity vulnerability is still an open door, and attackers are very good at walking through them. ⚠️

What it looks like before Kyle Farr and Boitumelo Mbokane sit down to discuss the latest on SharePoint Security 🤣

A week ago we sat down with Kyle Farr to talk about a critical SharePoint vulnerability. This week, we're sitting down again. Same platform. Different CVE.

If SharePoint vulnerabilities are starting to feel less like isolated incidents and more like a recurring pattern, you're not imagining it.

1,370 SharePoint servers are still sitting publicly exposed and unpatched, more than a week after Microsoft released the fix. And according to our Security Analyst Kyle Farr, that number is almost certainly understated.

In this follow-up conversation, we unpack what spoofing actually means, why a CVSS score of 6.5 is not your cue to relax, and the AI-driven trend that's making medium-severity vulnerabilities far more dangerous than they look on paper.

POV: You're the one person on the team who knows how SharePoint actually works and someone just emailed you a file called "Proposal_FINAL_v4_USE_THIS_ONE.docx".

We see you. We've BEEN you. That's why we built this.
