🌐 ISP – Internet Service Provider
What they do:
An ISP is the company that sells internet access and services to customers (residential or business).
✅ Responsibilities:
Provides internet, VoIP, streaming, and cloud services.
Manages customer accounts, billing, and support.
Relies on fibre network operators for connectivity.
🧠 Think of them as:
The service brand — The company to which you remit payment for internet services each month.
🔧 Fibre Installer
What they do:
The fibre installer is the hands-on technician who physically installs fibre optic cables, connects homes or buildings, and confirms the ONT is functioning properly, or raises a ticket with the Fibre Network Operator if the issue cannot be resolved on-site.
✅ Responsibilities:
Pull fibre cables (underground).
Splice, terminate, and test fibre links.
Install ONTs.
Ensure clean, tested, and functional fibre connections.
🧠 Think of them as:
The technician responsible for installing and routing the fiber optic cable to its designated location.
🏗 Fibre Network Operator
What they do:
The fibre network operator owns and manages the physical fibre infrastructure — The core infrastructure that links towns, cities, and buildings.
✅ Responsibilities:
Build and maintain fibre networks (core, metro, access).
Lease capacity to ISPs (wholesale model).
Ensure uptime, performance, and network scalability.
Approve access for installers or ISPs on their network.
🧠 Think of them as:
The landlord of the fibre highways — They develop and maintain the infrastructure, which internet service providers (ISPs) utilize to deliver their services.
