Comparing field measured woody canopy cover values with that of a satellite image measured with a standard point method approach. This could be helpful in an initial investigation of the historical change in woody vegetation canopy cover.

The VegPro software system are used to collect data in the field and process the collected data in a Desktop application. Several vegetation sampling and quantification methods have already been built in. One of the commonly used techniques is the 100x2m belt transect for the quantification of the woody component. This techniques is encapsulated by the VegPro software and allows the user to capture field data, import it into the Desktop application, manage and export various data tables. It also allows for BECVOL analysis and a BECVOL report to be generated.

This components (Woody Belt Transect) will be freely available to users who whish to use it in the field. The software will be continuously developed, and bugs fixed.
