How much graphics card VRAM do you need in 2026?

Short Answer: 8-16GB.

Detailed Answer: For casual tasks like web browsing, watching videos, or movies, 1-2GB of VRAM is typically more than sufficient.

Playing basic online or older games with simpler graphics? You’ll need around 3-6GB VRAM, depending on your settings.

For modern AAA games with high quality visuals, 8GB VRAM is usually the bare minimum. However, enabling advanced graphics features like ray tracing or frame generation can easily push your requirements beyond 8GB.

At the high-end, if you're gaming at 4K with maxed out settings, you'll likely want 16GB VRAM for smooth performance.

Beyond gaming, tasks such as GPU rendering & machine learning workloads easily utilize more than 24GB of VRAM. For AI-related workloads, there's virtually no upper limit, more VRAM is always better.

Did you know your power supply (PSU) comes with built-in safety features to protect both you and your PC?

You’ve probably seen terms like OCP, OVP, UVP, OPP, OTP, and SCP. These protections constantly monitor voltage, current, and temperature to keep your system safe.

Without them, your PSU could damage internal components or even cause electrical hazards. Thankfully, these safeguards automatically shut down the system when issues like excessive current, voltage spikes, overloads, overheating, or short circuits occur.

So, in the unlikely event something does go wrong, these safety features have you covered.

What types of GPU coolers are there, and which suits you best?

There are three main kinds: blower-style, open-air, and AIO water-cooled.

Blower-style coolers were once standard, using a single fan to push hot air out of the case. They worked well in small or low-airflow builds and for multi-GPU setups, but they’re louder and less efficient than newer designs.

Open-air coolers dominate today, using multiple fans to cool the GPU directly. They run cooler and quieter, but because heat is dumped into the case, other components can get warmer, especially in low-airflow systems. Multi-GPU setups also see the top card running hotter due to rising heat.

AIO water-cooled GPUs take performance further, using liquid cooling and a radiator to drop temperatures by around 10°C or more compared to air cooling. However, they’re harder to install, fit fewer cases, and introduce a potential pump failure point.
