Dubai is famous for supercars.
But Nobody talks about the buses. They should.
This is the view from my morning coffee. If you look closely, there’s a bus pulling in at the bottom left. By the time I finish this cup, it’ll be gone — and another one will have taken its place.
I’ve been using Dubai’s buses on and off since I moved here. Here’s what surprised me:
→ The bus stops are air-conditioned. In this heat, that’s not a luxury. That’s thoughtful design.
→ One small card pays for everything. Bus, metro, tram. Tap in, tap out. No cash, no tickets, no thinking.
→ The app tells you exactly when your bus arrives. And it’s right.
→ It costs less than a cup of coffee to cross half the city.
→ The buses are clean, cold, and on time. Every single time.
Here’s the part that stuck with me.
I’ve never once worried about whether my bus would show up. I don’t know the schedule by heart. I don’t know who maintains these vehicles. I’ve never met anyone who runs this system.
And that’s exactly the point.
Good infrastructure is invisible. You only notice it when it fails.
Somebody is checking those engines before they break. Somebody is watching the routes. Somebody planned for the breakdown that never happened — which is why you never heard about it.
That’s not luck. That’s maintenance.
I think about this a lot, because it’s the same thing we do at Infirise — just with servers instead of buses.
Most business owners only think about their IT on the day it stops working. The best setups are the ones you forget you have: monitored quietly, patched on schedule, backed up and tested, with someone accountable before anything breaks.
Boring. Invisible. Exactly like a bus that always shows up.
